Hearing protection is widely used to manage noise risk, yet its effectiveness in practice is often limited. Based on real-world site experience across a range of industries, this session explores how hearing protection and noise control measures are actually implemented on site. It will highlight common challenges including fit, usability, behavioural factors, and the gap between assessment and day-to-day practice. 

The session will also consider where noise control at source is being overlooked, and how a more balanced approach can improve outcomes. Practical examples will be used to demonstrate how organisations can get more from both their hearing protection and overall noise management strategies.
