PRISTINE CONDITION INTERNATIONAL LIMITED CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE (1996-2026)
Davy Snowdon MBE, Founder & CEO
Founded in 1996 by Davy Snowdon, Pristine was born from an innovative idea forged at the highest level of sport. A former Olympic weightlifter and conditioning coach, Davy returned to the UK following the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and was asked by a colleague in the paper industry to advise staff on lifting and handling techniques. He immediately recognised a powerful connection: the mechanically perfect principles of Olympic weightlifting could be directly applied to industrial manual handling.  At the time, this approach was entirely new. Davy became the first to successfully translate elite athletic lifting techniques into a practical, scalable system for industry—principles that would later become the foundation of the Pristine approach to manual handling.

Rapid Growth and National Recognition
Pristine’s reputation grew quickly across the UK, with major blue-chip organisations - many employing thousands of staff - seeking out this new, evidence-based approach to reducing manual handling injuries. As demand increased, the challenge became one of scale: how could these vital principles be delivered consistently to large and geographically dispersed workforces? The answer lay in innovation. Pristine pioneered the use of bespoke audio-visual productions (AVPs) - recording real tasks, presented clearly to camera, and training key individuals within organisations to cascade the Pristine principles. With Davy personally presenting many of these productions—very much in his element as a natural performer—the model proved highly effective. In 2008, Pristine took a major strategic step by bringing  its long-standing media production partner in-house. This marked the creation of Pristine’s own dedicated media production facility, placing the company at the cutting edge of safety communication and training delivery.

Global Expansion and Industry Impact
The effectiveness of the Pristine method was demonstrated most powerfully when published figures showed a huge reduction in manual handling injuries within the first year of implementation for the British national airline. This success led to further requests from other national airlines and, soon after, Pristine began operating internationally. During this period of unprecedented success, Davy Snowdon’s contribution to public safety was formally recognised. In 2014, he was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for outstanding public service. Reflecting this natural overseas expansion, the company formally changed its trading name in July 2016 to Pristine Condition International Limited.

Big Enough to Matter, Small Enough to Care
Pristine Condition is supported by an exceptional office-based administrative team, combining long-standing experience with fresh talent brought in through continued growth. Their professionalism, dedication and attention to detail form the backbone of the organisation’s day-to-day success. At the sharp end of the  operation is a highly accomplished team of field-based trainers, drawn largely from military and professional sporting backgrounds, delivering expertise, discipline and credibility on every client site.

Resilience Through the Pandemic
Like many organisations, Pristine faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The company responded by rapidly expanding its online training capability, addressing emerging risks such as isolation, home working, and lone working. In a clear demonstration of its values, Pristine produced and shared extensive audio-visual training materials at no charge, purely to support its loyal client base during an exceptionally difficult time.

Looking Ahead to the Future
Thirty years on, Pristine continues to grow and evolve. The company remains focused on its core purpose: ensuring people go home safe and reducing unnecessary musculoskeletal disorders. Pristine Media now operates with three full-time camera and presenter crews, producing high-quality content that supports Pristine’s POPs coaches, while also diversifying into promotional, technical, skills-based, and on-the-job training productions for a wide range of sectors. As 2026 unfolds, further expansion is planned—but Pristine has not forgotten its roots. Keeping people safe remains the ultimate goal, and Davy Snowdon continues to lead from the front, driving innovation while staying true to the principles that started it all in 1996.
