Stewart is one of our Principal Consultants with over 17 years’experience in compliance and building safety.

Stewart is skilled in collaborating effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to embed positive cultural and behavioural change around compliance. Stewart is an excellent communicator and has recently been supporting clients to develop their processes and procedures to managing the ‘big six’ alongside other areas of cyclical compliance. This includes specific reviews on property compliance service delivery for key compliance areas (such as fire, building safety, gas, electric, smoke and carbon monoxide, asbestos, water hygiene and lift safety); and strategic audits to cover areas such as organisational governance and assurance.

In Stewart’s previous role as Building Safety Manager for Salix Homes, he was responsible for the operational team delivery the ‘big six’ compliance areas, asbestos, fire, gas, electric, lifts and water hygiene.

He supported the board of directors in ensuring Salix’s continued compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Building Safety Act 2022 and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 etc. Stewart was responsible for continually monitoring and updating the board on all developments around building safety legislation, best practice and guidance.

Recent projects include Fire Safety Review, Asbestos Advisory Support, Building Safety Gap Analysis, Building Safety Case Report Development, Compliance Health Checks, Property Compliance Training to operational teams and board, Asbestos Awareness Training, Building Safety Training (Building Safety Act, Gateway and Residential PEEPs).

Following the Grenfell Tower fire, Stewart also became involved with the Early Adopters work to support the development of the new building safety regime. He regularly liaised with the Health & Safety Executive now the Building Safety Regulator, and peer working groups to trial and pilot schemes to inform future legislation.
